As in previous years, AVֲ Security will conduct the traditional outdoor flag raisings in the Quad and on the Truro campus at the start of the month.</p> <p>Our 2026 African Heritage Month theme, “<b>Creative Advocacy: Uplifting Black Health, Art, and Community Action</b>,” will guide the program. In Mi'kmaw culture, the beginning of February marks Apuknajit, when people gather to share food to get through the hardest month of the year.&nbsp;</p> <p>This year, the feast will be followed by a presentation by Courtney Nevin put on in partnership with the DalAC Indigenous Student Collective. The title for Courtney's talk is:&nbsp; <i>Apuknajit: the winter spirit- shape shifter</i>.
