Biography

Mary Helen McSweeney-Feld is a professor in health administration and consultant for long-term care communities. She was a 2025-2026 Fulbright Canada Research Chair at the University of Ottawa. Trained as a health economist, her research and teaching interests expanded into the health administration field, specializing in health care finance, ageing service delivery and long-term care administration, emergency preparedness in long-term care, and population health management as it affects care transitions and end-of-life care. She is a licensed nursing home administrator, has numerous peer-reviewed publications, a textbook in long-term care administration, grant awards, and was selected as a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America. She has a BA from Wellesley College, two masters from Columbia University and Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. in Health Economics from the City University of New York. She enjoys her home in Halifax, Nova Scotia and reunions with her family.
