Robin Whitaker is President of both the Canadian Association of University Teachers and the National Union of the CAUT, and former Co-Chair of the CAUT Governance Committee. She works in the Department of Anthropology at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She is a past President of her home union, the Memorial University of Newfoundland Faculty Association (MUNFA), which she also served as a grievance officer.
Topic: Reclaiming a labour-centred approach to equity

Debbie Martin is a Full Professor and Tier II Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Peoples' Health and Well-Being at AV¾ãÀÖ²¿. Since 2016, Dr. Martin has led the Atlantic Indigenous Mentorship Network and the Wabanaki-Indigenous Health Research Network, both of which offer research supports and funding for Indigenous communities and graduate students throughout the Atlantic region. Dr. Martin is Inuk and a member of NunatuKavut, with ongoing family connections to southeastern Labrador.
Topic: The underexplored role of geopolitics in determining Indigeneity at academic institutions

Marc Schroeder is an associate professor in Mount Royal University's Department of Mathematics and Computing, with a long history of academic staff union work. He was president of his faculty association (2014-2018) and is currently Vice-president of CAUT, co-chairing its Governance Committee. Marc has published on collegial governance and contributed to the book The Contested Future of Higher Education: Lessons from Alberta. He has served multiple terms on MRU's General Faculties Council and on its standing committees, including having chaired the Appointments, Promotion, and Tenure Committee that developed the detailed criteria for MRU's then-new system of rank and promotion.

Josyl Headley advises students in AV¾ãÀÖ²¿â€™s Bachelor of Social Work program and is completing her Graduate Studies in Lifelong Learning at Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU). She is an active member of MSVU’s Black Students in Research group, contributing to publications on Black scholars’ experiences. Josyl co-facilitated the 2024–2025 Bridge into Agriculture cohort, strengthening her focus on accessible, community-informed education. She currently serves as Co-Chair of AV¾ãÀÖ²¿â€™s Black Staff and Faculty Caucus and holds additional roles including membership on MSVU’s Black Student Advising Committee, AV¾ãÀÖ²¿â€™s Student Affairs Advisory Group, and weekly volunteer service with UACWA.
Topic: On the frontline but sidelined: Acculturation as a coping mechanism

JC Pasco (BA, Hons. Psyc) is a first year MSW student at AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ and a first-generation Filipina immigrant currently residing in Kjipuktuk, in Mi’kma’ki (Halifax, NS). As Regional Associate Manager of Move Experience for Shelter Movers and Vice Chair of the Social Work Student Group, she is passionate about policy reform and social justice in racialized communities, particularly within the gender-based violence and housing sectors. Through her nonprofit leadership and community engagement, she is committed to advancing equitable systems, expanding access to critical resources, and fostering collective care.

David Westwood is a Professor of Kinesiology at AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ and President, AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ Faculty Association (DFA).
