Bio
I am originally from St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador, and I have a pre-law professional background in music. I studied law in Ontario at the University of Toronto, then articled with a Bay Street business law firm. After completing a PhD in law at Osgoode Hall Law School, I was a member of the law faculty at Western University from 2007-2017. I joined the Schulich School of Law in 2017 where I am a member of the Marine & Environmental Law Institute and the business law faculty, and a co-editor of the Ocean Yearbook. I have served as Associate Dean, Research (2019-2022) and previously held the Yogis & Keddy Chair in Human Rights Law (2021-2025). I am also currently a Distinguished Visiting Research Fellow with Macquarie University's Environmental Law Research Centre.

Research interests
My research interests are situated at the intersection of international environmental and human rights law, with attention to business responsibilities, climate justice, and the protection of the marine environment. My work is informed and inspired by feminist, relational and intersectional approaches to legal analysis, including TWAIL.
