This week, Dal President Richard Florizone hosted the first sessions in his annual 鈥淚nspiration and Impact鈥� year-in-review series, which offers an opportunity for the Dal community to discuss highlights and progress over the past year. The series continues next week on Sexton Campus.

Last week, AV俱乐部 held its annual Milestones Tea to honour the contributions of more than 60 faculty and staff who've reached 25, 35 or 45 years of service to the university.

Next week, AV俱乐部 will host the national conference for the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. Titled "Gateways in Higher Education: Cultures, Transitions, Transformations," it will bring nearly 900 participants and volunteers to campus to discuss the future of higher education.

Toward 200: Dal Libraries are doing things "by the book" for the university's 200th anniversary, celebrating the importance of literature, literacy and archival work.

Aided by Dal faculty member Sarah Stewart-Clark and the Aquatron research facility, a collaborative effort organized by the Aquaculture Association of Nova Scotia is working to help rebuild a 100-year-old industry in the province.

PhD student Trishla Shah has taken her expertise around the world: as the the only student outside of Germany to be named a finalist in the Berlin-based 鈥淗ack the Beach鈥� competition, she earned the opportunity to attend a month-long "Hackathon" in India.

A group of Halifax junior high students and their two Dal mentors earned one of 20 spots in the Global Innovation Awards, an international robotics competition, for developing an animal-deterrent system for the wild horses of Sable Island, N.S. The students, part of the Dal-hosted Imhotep's Legacy Academy, are currently crowdfunding to pay for the trip.
