Schulich School of Law edges higher in 2026 THE World University Rankings by Subject

The discipline of law anchored by the Schulich School of Law continued its climb in the top 100 in the .泭

Dal placed 85th泭globally泭for the discipline泭in the worlds most-watched global subject ranking out this week, up four spots year over year and 15 spots from 2024 when it placed at 100.泭It placed 6th泭in Canada.

Were pleased to be recognized yet again in the top 100 law schools in泭the泭Times Higher Education泭subject rankings. We are particularly proud to see that we have moved up for the second year in a row, says Schulich Law Dean泭Sarah Harding泭(LLB '89).泭 This is a wonderful recognition of our commitment to top-notch research, teaching, and public service.

The泭THE泭World University Rankings by Subject assess institutional performance across 11 broad disciplines and 31 individual subjects. The is grounded in five pillars: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, International Outlook, and Industry.泭

Each subject area applies tailored weightings, thresholds, and recalibrations to reflect disciplinary differences and characteristics.

Disciplines in focus


Dals overall performance remained consistent compared to last year with most subjects泭maintaining泭their band placement.泭

Psychology: 176-200泭(12th泭in Canada)泭

Medical and Health (formerly Clinical and Health): 201-250泭(11th泭in Canada)

Business & Economics: 301-400泭(11th泭in Canada)

Physical Sciences: 301-400泭(11th泭in Canada)

Social Sciences: 301-400泭(11th泭in Canada)

Arts & Humanities: 401-500泭(17th泭in Canada)

Computer Science: 401-500泭(25th泭in Canada)

Engineering: 401-500泭(23rd泭in Canada)

Only one discipline slipped year over year: Life Sciences fell from the 251-300 band to the 301-400 band. It came in 13th nationally.
