POSITION #1: Teaching Assistant (25 hours)- NUMT 3220.03 - General Imaging I~Fall 2026

Start-end date: September 27-Dec 12, 2026

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This clinical education course will provide students with the opportunity to expand upon their knowledge and understanding of all nuclear medicine practices and procedures. Students will apply theory to practice through an immersive clinical placement, with an emphasis on the application and evaluation of general imaging procedures as they relate to patient management. Prior to the completion of this course, students will be required to obtain a minimum number of general imaging clinical competencies, achieved through assessment by faculty and preceptors. Students will assess, modify, and apply instrumentation applications for each procedure performed. Quality control procedures, evaluation, and troubleshooting techniques will be used to optimize outcomes and ensure validity of results.

WORK ASSIGNMENT: WORK ASSIGNMENT: The Teaching Assistant(s) for NUMT 3220.03 will be responsible for conducting oral competency assessments on nuclear medicine general imaging procedures. They will facilitate oral testing with prompting questions and image critique to ensure that all essential components of each procedure are discussed and understood. They will also be responsible for arranging testing dates/times directly with students, completing the necessary preparation and follow-up for each assessment, and meeting with the professor of record as needed.  This position reports to the course instructor.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Relevant education and experience in nuclear medicine technology.  Interpersonal skills and timely communication required for interactions with students and faculty.  Expertise of nuclear medicine general imaging procedures essential. Current license to practice as a nuclear medicine technologist and CAMRT membership required. Undergraduate or master’s degree preferred. Previous teaching experience is desirable.
