At Dash Social, we care about making data-backed decisions, helping customers, and fostering growth in our company and communities. We created this scholarship to support the student community in their pursuit of education. Learning is a continuous process, and we understand the importance, challenges, and opportunities that post-secondary education gives individuals. We hope that the Dash Social Scholarship will help BIPOC students further their education without the strain that finances create for Nova Scotia students.

1. Enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Management
2. Demonstrate high academic achievement
3. Preference given to students who self-identify as being a member of an underrepresented population.

In his lifetime, Lloyd Shaw was an outstanding community leader who had a strong commitment to service in the public interest. His commitment to public affairs in general, and specifically to issues such as labour-management relations, social inclusion and anti-racism, community and inter-generational solidarity, multilateralism and peace served as an inspiration to all who knew him. His community service enriched his province and his country. The Lloyd Shaw Lecture in Public Affairs was previously established by his family to honour his memory and contributions. The repurposing of these funds to the Lloyd Shaw MBA Bursary will ensure continued support for students pursuing a Master of Business Administration, enabling them to access opportunities that might otherwise be financially out of reach. This adjustment reflects the shared vision of supporting the academic and professional development of future business leaders, aligning the gift with the evolving needs of the university and its students.

Eligibility

1. Master of Public Administration, or Corporate Residency MBA student
2. Canadian citizen or landed immigrant (first preference will be given to students from Atlantic Canada)
3. Be in good academic standing
4. Desire to pursue a career in Family Business, Transportation and/or Business Government Relations 
5. Preference will be given to students who can demonstrate financial need

Demonstrating financial need 

To determine financial need, we connect with the Registrar’s Office and they provide us with a scoring based on information collected in their office. If you have anything further to add, there is a section of our application form for you to do so.

These Scholarships have been established, in part, as a means by which to recognize and celebrate the values held and exhibited through a lifetime of achievement by Sir Graham Day. As well, to encourage both undergraduate and graduate students to participate in course work and related work-terms or internships with a focus (in no particular order) on Family Business, Transportation or Business-Government Relations.
