PhD Students

Jocelyn Paul

Jocelyn is a 6th year Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology at AV整氈窒, and has been a part of Corkum LABS since 2022. She graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) degree, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Biology from Mount Saint Vincent University in 2018. Additionally, she completed her M.Sc. in Psychiatry Research from AV整氈窒 in 2020. Jocelyn is currently working on her dissertation, which aims to understand the perspectives, barriers, and facilitators of sleep, as well as sleep interventions among Indigenous populations in Nova Scotia.

Emily Wildeboer

Emily is in her 6th泭year of the Clinical Psychology PhD program at AV整氈窒, under the supervision of Dr. Penny Corkum and Dr. Elizabeth Keys. She has been part of Corkum LABS since 2022. Her research focuses on the development and evaluation of an online learning program for healthcare providers related to sleep problems in young children. Before her time in the lab, she completed her Bachelor of Arts with Honours at Western University in 2020.

Alzena Ilie

Alzena is in her 4th泭year of the Clinical Psychology PhD program at AV整氈窒, and has been with Corkum LABS since 2021. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Honours under the supervision of Dr. Penny Corkum in 2022.泭Her dissertation is focused on the Promoting Healthy Sleep Program, an eLearning professional development program focused on training healthcare providers in how to assess and treat pediatric insomnia and other sleep disorders in school-aged children.

Mya Dockrill

Mya is in her 3rd泭year of the Clinical Psychology PhD program at AV整氈窒 and has been with Corkum LABS since 2020. Mya completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Honours at AV整氈窒 under the supervision of Dr. Chris Moore and Dr. John Corbit in the Early Social Development Lab in 2021. Mya then moved to Southern Ontario to complete her Master of Arts degree in Developmental Psychology at the University of Waterloo (2021-2023). Her current dissertation plan is to focus on the treatment of sleep difficulties in underrepresented populations.

Bryar Victoria Higley

Bryar is completing her 4th year of a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at AV整氈窒, and joined Corkum LABS in 2024. She is completing her Honours thesis under the supervision of Dr. Penny Corkum and PhD student Emily Wildeboer, focusing on the usability of the Promoting Healthy Sleep in Early Childhood program.

Ashley Korman

Ashley泭is in her 4th泭year of a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at AV整氈窒 and joined Corkum LABS in 2025. Ashley is completing her Honours thesis under the supervision of Dr. Penny Corkum and PhD student Alzena Ilie, focusing on testing the effectiveness and implementation of Promoting Healthy Sleep: An eLearning Program泭for Healthcare Providers.泭She is currently involved in qualitative interviews aimed at improving the泭PHS泭and assessing the feasibility of its broader implementation.

Caden Whitfield

Caden is in her泭4th year of a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Biology at AV整氈窒. She joined Corkum LABS in 2025 to complete her Honours under the supervision of Dr. Penny Corkum, which focuses on the usability, feasibility, and cultural relevance of the Better Nights, Better Days program for diverse families.
