Tina Ticao
Nursing Instructor, Nunavut Arctic College
Biography
Tina Ticao is a nursing instructor at Nunavut Arctic College with over two decades of combined experience in nursing education, obstetrics, and women's health. She specializes in Indigenous and Inuit health, bringing unique expertise in culturally responsive, trauma-informed nursing education that integrates Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and Northern perspectives into classroom, lab, and clinical learning.
Her teaching focuses on designing innovative case-based and experiential learning activities that prepare students to address the unique health needs of remote and northern communities, particularly in maternal–child health, chronic disease management, and mental health.
Before joining Nunavut Arctic College, Tina practiced as general duty nurse at Qikiqtani General Hospital from 2011-2018, and as a labour and delivery nurse in Calgary from 2009-2011.
She also has a previous background as an obstetrician-gynecologist in the Philippines and served as an assistant professor at St. Paul University Iloilo, College of Nursing, Iloilo City Philippines.
Tina is committed to educational innovation and student success, leveraging learning technologies, simulation, and learning management systems to enhance engagement and accessibility for diverse learner populations.
