AV¾ãÀÖ²¿
Diz Glithero is the Executive Director of the Centre for Ocean Literacy Collaboration (formerly, Canadian Ocean Literacy Coalition) that is administratively based at the Ocean Frontier Institute at AV¾ãÀÖ²¿. Diz is an Adjunct Professor in the Marine Affairs Program at AV¾ãÀÖ²¿. She led the co-development of Land, Water, Ocean, Us: A Canadian Ocean Literacy Strategy (March 2021) and co-founded Ocean Week Canada. Internationally, Diz serves on the IOC-UNESCO Group of Experts on Ocean Literacy. In 2023-2024, Diz co-chaired and co-authored the Ocean Decade Vision 2030 Challenge 10 Working Group and White Paper – Restoring Society’s Relationship with the Ocean. Diz’s former work as an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa (2006-2016) and earlier research focused on environmental education, civic engagement, and youth agency informs her current ocean work. Diz’s work has been honoured with several national and international awards. Most recently, in February 2025, Diz was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for her dedication to ocean conservation through education and research.
