Dr.泭Julie Reimer泭is a marine social scientist and Senior Policy Advisor in Marine Planning and Conservation at Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Dr. Reimer works at the boundary of ocean science and management and aims to translate science into actionable泭pathways toward global conservation and sustainability goals. She holds a PhD in geography, a Master of Marine Management, and a Bachelor of Science in biology. Working across disciplinary and institutional boundaries, Dr. Reimer takes a transdisciplinary approach to research in ocean planning and management.泭 She has been recognized as a leader in organizational governance, youth empowerment, and science-based advocacy. Dr. Reimer recently served as an expert member of the Decade Advisory Board for the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and currently serves as a contributing author for the IPBES Spatial Planning and Connectivity Assessment and member of the ICES Working Group on Marine Protected Areas and other Spatial Conservation Measures.
