AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ the UPass
TheÌýUPassÌýis a transit pass that allowsÌýfull-time,ÌýHalifax-based Dal studentsÌýto ride buses and ferries in the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM):
- Fall and Winter terms: September 1 to April 30
- Summer term: May 1 to August 31 (Requires the purchase of a separate summer UPass)
TheÌýUPassÌýsticker is placed directly on yourÌýDalCard.ÌýSimply show yourÌýDalCardÌýwith theÌýUPassÌýsticker when you get on a bus or ferry.
TheÌýUPassÌýsticker is available through DalCard offices, as well as the Student Accounts office in the Henry Hicks building. This sticker cannot beÌýpurchasedÌýelsewhere. If you receive a sticker, it is non-transferrable and is intended for your use.
Are you eligible for a UPass?
TheÌýUPassÌýprogram is mandatory for all full-time undergraduate, graduate, and professional students—excluding students registered in Faculty of Agriculture programs. TheÌýUPassÌýfee is automatically added to your student account.
Part-time students are not eligible for theÌýUPass.
Students on co-op placements within HRM can choose to opt in to theÌýUPass, but it will not be processed automatically.
Students with permanent disabilities following a part-time course load may be eligible to opt in.

Post-graduate medicine students are eligible for the UPass, but must opt in to receive one.
If you are a full-time student in the summer, theÌýSummerÌýUPassÌýprogram is mandatory. If you are completing an academic or clinical/placement requirement full-time for the summer and youÌýareÌýlocatedÌýinÌýHalifax, you may be able to opt in to theÌýSummerÌýUPassÌýprogram.
Employees are not eligible for the UPass program but can inquire about the XPass through theÌýOffice of Sustainability.
