Summer UPass

Students studying full-time on the Halifax Campuses during the summer will receive a Summer UPass to get around the city. Other students may also be eligible.

What is it and how does it work?

Full-time students—those taking at least 9 credit hours during the summer semesters (May to August)—enjoy the benefits ofÌýUPassÌýautomatically.

TheÌýUPassÌýfee is added to their student account along with their other fees and noÌýadditionalÌýaction is needed. 

Some programs, who are not auto-assessed by Student Accounts, have the opportunity toÌýopt in to theÌýSummerÌýUPassÌýprogramÌýper the criteria below.

Eligibility for opting in

SummerÌýUPassÌýprogram opt-in eligibility includes any of the Fall/Winter criteria listed on the Opting in page, as well as theÌýadditionalÌýprograms and courses below.

  • Diploma in Dental Hygiene

  • DDS Qualifying Program

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery Program

  • Doctor of Medicine

  • Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound

  • Nuclear Medicine Technology

  • Radiological Technology

  • Respiratory Therapy

  • Master of Science – Speech Pathology

  • Bachelor of Science (Pharmacy)

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Years 1-4)

  • Law – Graduate Students

  • Public Administration – Management - Internships

  • Master of Social Work (registered in any of  SLWK 5005/5006 and 6416/6417 and having been registered in the preceding winter semester for spring/summer term 2026 only)

Important notes

  • Once you opt in to theÌýSummerÌýUPassÌýprogram, youÌýare not able toÌýopt out.

  • Once you pick up yourÌýSummerÌýUPass, it cannot be returned for a refund unless you have had your full-time fees refunded in full.
