Costs, funding, and fellowships
Since exchange programs involve paying tuition to AV整氈窒 at the泭rate泭you currently pay for a full-time course load in your faculty, you泭wouldn't泭experience a difference in cost in terms of tuition.
For study abroad opportunities, you pay your tuition to the host universityusually in the host nations currency.泭
Costs for travel and living overseas vary depending on where youre studying, but泭there are scholarships and bursaries available that can offset some of those costs.泭Bursaries are awarded based on泭demonstrated泭financial need, while scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement.泭All applications will automatically be considered for a bursary and scholarship.
In some cases, the financial awards you can receive will make a term or year abroad more affordable than staying in Canada!泭
Fellowships
Interested in combining international study with generous funding and leadership development? Our fellowship opportunities support students seeking transformative global experiences. The Killam Fellowship provides funding for Canadian undergraduate students to study in the United States, while the McCall MacBain International Fellowship supports a year-long international experience that may include language learning, academic study, work experience, and community engagement abroad. Both programs are designed to help students develop intercultural skills, global awareness, and valuable professional experience.

Study abroad guide
There are steps you need to take, and guidelines you need to follow, before and after you apply for an exchange or study abroad program.泭
Check out our guide to help you plan your international adventure.
Application process
You need to apply for an exchange or study abroad program泭a year before you go泭(e.g.,泭if you want to go away in your third year, you apply in your second year) and you must have泭completed 15 credit hours泭at AV整氈窒 or Kings before applying. You apply for your top three destinations.
Applications for university-wide programs open at the beginning of November and close in mid-January (usually November 1 January 15). Departmental programs may have different application dates and deadlines.泭
Applications are reviewed and ranked based on your current CGPA and the quality of your written answers. These include a Summary of Interest (max. 400 words) and a series of short answer questions about each of your exchange selections.
If your application is successful and泭youre泭offered an exchange, you need to pay a non-refundable $100 fee to accept it. You then apply to,泭and need to be accepted泭by,泭the host university.泭
